New “Phlyers™” Shirts.

PHLYERS™

NEW COLORS

gray_phlyers_straight_up blk_phlyers_straight_up

Hey Ya’ll.  Since printing this design about a week or so ago it has gone over extremely well with everyone who’s seen it.  That being said I had to do something that I didn’t necessarily want to.  OUTSOURCE!!! I didn’t print these shirts. That can be good or bad for you depending on your school of thought.  Some of the obvious pros are:  1) These new shirts were printed with plastisol inks which tend to cover the shirts much more opaquely than water-based inks. 2) These shirts were all printed on a professional press and are all registered perfectly so every shirt is exactly the same.  3) This design has a bad ass  bold outline which the previous shirts did not have.  As for some cons, not that many of you even care.  1) Plastisol inks are thicker and heavier than water based inks which some people consider less comfortable to wear ( I personally do not).   2) I like keeping everything home-made and hands-on and even though this shirt came out great and looks amazing it doesn’t have that unique one of a kind look. (The original “Phlyers™” shirt was made using all hand cut stencils.)

With all that said these shirts are still one of my favorite new designs, the new batch of gray and black shirts were printed by “Awesome Dudes Printing” in South Philly and came out amazing.  They are available either by e-mailing me at seaarezea2000@yahoo and having one mailed to you or at Agent Aloha located at 506 South St. in Philadelphia.

More photos of the shirts are under the Fall 2009 page at the top.

Christian.

ANOTHER . . .

first_friday_2

Again, I will be in Olde City tonight Friday October 2, 2009 for another evening of Hustlin’, Slangin’, & Peddlin’.  I will have a lot of “Pheagles™” and the new “Phlyers™” designs with me available in all sizes as well as a bunch of the older designs.  I will be set up on the east side of 2nd St. just north of Market St.  If you wanted to get a shirt in the past but didn’t or had your eye on the new “Phlyers™” shirt then “Tonight’s the night”.  I should be set up by 4:30 pm and stick around until 9 or 10.  I’m selling on a first come first served basis and the “Phlyers™” shirts are too hot to hold right now so get there early.  I will also have a bunch of “Glow in the Dark” shirts with me tonight.  Get em’ for Halloween, they’re real spooky and scary. Hope to see a bunch of you guys tonight. (It’s gonna be a little chilly out there tonight so if anyone wants to bring me some whiskey to warm me up I’d appreciate it) As always, Thanks For Reading!

Christian.

BRAND NEW DESIGN UNVEILED

September 27, 2009 · Comments Off

HERE IS THE SECOND SHIRT IN THE FALL/WINTER 2009 SERIES.

IN BLACK & ORANGE IT’S JUST IN TIME FOR OCTOBER AND PRESEASON FLYERS ACTION.

INTRODUCING

THE NEWEST BROAD STREET BOOTLEG™ HYBRID

PHLYERS

P6200236

THIS SHIRT IS:

$20.00

AND IS AVAILABLE UNDER THE NEW PAGE FALL 2009.

This shirt is a 2 color (black & orange) screen print on a light gray T-shirt.

E-mail me at seaarezea2000@yahoo.com for ordering information.

Starting with this design and continuing with more in the future I am going to start “The Making Of” series. A series of photographs to document the making of a new shirt or design. I am only going to document the making of a shirt if it is a true hands on/hand made shirt consisting of hand cut stencils.

Here is:

THE MAKING

OF

PHLYERS

1) I began with a simple wax paper stencil. I cut out the shape below and used the piece this was cut from as the stencil.

Wax Paper cut out

2) I taped the wax paper to the underside of the screen.

Taped to the screen.

3) Applied the orange ink to the front side of the screen.

Ink on the screen.

4) “Flooded” the screen to obtain a smooth even coat of ink.

Flooded.

5) Pulled the ink through the stencil twice. Once with the screen flooded, once without.

Pull through.

6) Lift the screen to reveal the first color print.

First color.

7) Now to lay out the stencil for the second color. I printed an outline of the design out on a transparency so I could have the widest range of options when working with it. The advantages of having the design on a transparency is that if the design need to be traced or reversed etc. it can be done very easily.

Second color stencil.

8) I next needed to cut out the center half of the baseball that was floating and not attached to anything. I needed to cut it out on a sticker so that it would adhere to the screen and I had to cut it out backwards because it is being placed on the back side of the screen. During a sunny day my window makes for an excellent light table. (I have no idea why that happy face is up there. It is suppose to be an number eight but eights keeps showing up as that. Weird)

Center shape.

9) Next I needed to cut out the rest of the design and I choose to use “Clear Transparent Con-Tact” paper. After using this for many different shirt designs I found that it is very reliable and the plastic like texture is very durable. Again, I had to cut this design out backward because it is going on the back side of the screen.

Second color stencil cut out.

10) I then used 2 inch masking tape to seal up the rest of the screen and placed the half of a baseball sticker on the screen in it’s right place.

Ready to rock.

11) The stencil is cut out, stuck on the screen. The holes are sealed and the screen looks good and I’m ready to print color number two.

Front side.

12) I apply the black ink and once again flood the screen with an smooth even coat. Lookin’ good!

Black flooded.

13) I pull the ink through the screen twice. Once with the screen flooded and once without.

Pull through.

14) Lift the screen to reveal what all the hard work was for. Couldn’t have come out better. Great Success! And all with hand cut stencils. Amazing! No high wattage expensive exposure units and NO CHEMICALS!! So boys and girls, hopefully with this know-how you will feel confident enough to attempt screen printing at home. Enjoy!

Finished Product.

15) Repeat steps #1-#14.

Mass produce that shit.

Then the real fun part. Cleaning all of the ink off in my bathtub. Awesome!

BUFFALO PLAID

SECOND EDITION

Buffalo Plaid 2

New for fall this second edition of the buffalo plaid print that we all know and love.  This shirt is essentially the same as the other buffalo plaid shirt with only one difference.  That being the red and white are reversed.  This is a 2 color screen print (black & white) on a red shirt.  This is the first shirt of the fall series and quantity is very limited.  This shirt is available in SMALL, MEDIUM, & LARGE.  Get them while you can and keep an eye out for the next edition in the fall series coming soon.  Keep in mind while ordering that these shirts are all hand printed one at a time and registered by eye.  No two are exactly the same and offsetting occurs on all of them.  E-mail me at seaarezea2000@yahoo.com for ordering information.

This Shirt is $20.00.
