Women’s Phlyers™ Shirts Now Available

It’s taken way too long to get these designs on women’s shirts but it’s finally happened.  The two shirts pictured above are currently available in women’s SMALL MEDIUM and LARGE.  During the next few weeks I will be releasing 2 designs on women’s shirts at a time.  Next week the Gray Phlyers™ and Pheagles™ 2.0h shit will be available for the gals and then after that the new King Phil we be available for the women on both black and royal blue shirts.  A lot of girls in the past have asked if I had a women’s cut shirt available and I had to recommend they buy a men’s small which isn’t the most flattering on a women’s body.  I am proud to say that these shirts look great.  The designs fill up the shirts much better than a men’s and during the past week I have sold/gave a bunch to friends and family and I am really impressed how great they look on girls.  So ladies, no more scissors and sewing machines to try to get the right fit out of Broad Street Bootlegs™. These shirts fit great and look great.  The material is also much softer than the men’s shirts. 100% Pre-Shrunk Cotton.  There’s still plenty of time left for me to get these out to you while the Stanley Cup is going on so don’t wait.  Please contact me first before submitting any kind of payment to make sure that the size you want is still available. As always thanks for reading and I’m predicting Flyers in 7. See you all on Broad street Friday June 11th, let’s say 11:15ish.

Frauds & Fakes

Last evening clicking around this crazy world wide web we all have learned to love I noticed an image on the sidebar of my screen strikingly similar to a design I was very familiar with. The reason I was familiar with it was because I CREATED IT LAST YEAR. I admit, my Phlyers™ logo isn’t 100% original because it pretty much contains an older Phillies P not really changed much except the angle. But in my defense, I was born and raised in South Philly and lived here my whole life. I grew up going to Phillies and Eagles games at the Vet. Sneaking thermoses full of hot booze into a snowy Eagles game under my coat so that my dad could catch a buzz. Skipping school to sit in the 700 level for a Phillies home opener. I even walked 10 blocks to the Broad & Federal orange line stop with my dad in the blizzard of ’93 to attend a Flyers game only to have to leave in the first period because a spectrum window got blown out by the storm. The point I’m trying to make is that after 28 years of living in Philadelphia I have never once saw a Phillies-Flyers hybrid logo ANYWHERE. Not on a shirt, not on a poster, not on the internet. NOT ANYWHERE. My idea for this design came about last year when my younger brother Adam (who works for the Flyers and has been a life long fan) kept pressuring me to do a bootleg Flyers shirt. After looking at the logo and deciding what I could do with it to make it unique and original, I saw it. “IT” being the “P” in the center of the logo. I also admit after years of seeing the logo thousands of times it never really dawned on me that it was actually a “P” in the logo. After realizing that, it was a no-brainer. So with all that said, I conceptualized, created, and designed this logo on September 27, 2009. And an older post on this site can confirm that. Go ahead, see for yourself: PROOF. The first edition of the Phlyers™ Tee was made using all hand cut stencils and limited to 12 shirts. It has come a long way in the past 8 months. Not only did this “FRAUD” decide to steal my Phlyers™ logo he thought it would be a good idea to also do a version of the shirt with a shamrock in the center of the “P” which I’m sure the idea struck him after seeing it, um….., I don’t know……, maybe? HERE!

Sure, sometimes inspiration can be hard to come by. Especially when you’re looking for it. But I believe that the absolute lowest thing you can do is to steal and copy something someone else is doing. I mean, if you’re really that desperate than you should probably concentrate your efforts and energy into using your own brain to come up with something that no one else has. I’ve come to learn that some people rely solely on other peoples successes to promote their own endeavors, and it’s really a sad occurrence. I really wish people would bring back the term “Poser” I loved saying that shit.

Alright. If you stuck with me this long and read this whole post and agree that the above images are blatant rip-offs of Broad Street Bootlegs™ lets see what happens when a bunch of us email these “Frauds” and let them know that “Stealing” peoples ideas and designs is in fact a great form of flattery but also a great way of showing that you are a unoriginal, uncreative, theif. Oh yeah. I forgot to mention that their shirt are all iron on decals too. Get Real!

I want to end this post with a picture of myself wearing a hand painted jacket from a local, original, and very talented artist. Herman Carter. I’ve heard him call his work “Corporation Disruption”. Herman and I have a lot in common considering he takes common recognizable brands and logos and re-works them to be an original piece of art. Don’t try to e-mail Herman or look for a phone number because they don’t exist. He’s homeless. But he wouldn’t tell you that. He’d say “Residentially Challenged”

“Kill-All Frauds and Fakes. You ain’t no gangster. They’re Faaaaaake!”

Thanks Herman!

☆ CONTEST ☆

It’s almost been a full year since I made my first post on this blog, and a lot has happened to Broad Street Bootlegs™ during that time. I’ve evolved from doing absolutely everything alone, from printing, drying, tagging, and folding every shirt by myself to now having them professionally printed so that the quality can be maintained and the consistency be perfect. Just today begins another first for me. The Black Phlyers™ & Phlyers ’82 shirts are now available on womens shirts (photos coming soon). Although for the time being they will only be available at Cheesesteak Tees 506 South St. With all that being said I thought it is a good time to host a new contest. As all you Phillies fans already know our team has experienced record attendance at home games this season and last. I am always excited and surprised to see how many “hits” this blog/site has gotten in any given day, week, or month. I can’t say I did it all on my own though. This site has gotten a lot of traffic over the last year by having been featured and linked on busier and more popular sites which I am very thankful for. Being that many of you would have never found or ever heard of Broad Street Bootlegs™ if it weren’t for me and my designs being featured on sites like: The Philadelphia City Paper, Phileberity.com, Philly Thrillist.com, PhilliesNation.com, WonkaVision Web Zine and a few more. With all that said, here is how you can win this contest.

CONTEST RULES

According to the official Phillies web site Citizens Bank Park holds 43,651 people. As I’m writing this post I have 43,323 hits to my site. (I still find it crazy that in almost a full year I didn’t see as much traffic as Citizens Bank Park see in one night) If you are the 43,651 visitor to BroadStreetBootlegs™.com you will win everything pictured above. (some shirts may be different depending on size and availability). But how do you know which visitor arrives when, you may be asking yourself? In order to prove that you were the 43,651 visitor to BroadStreetBootlegs™.com you will have to take a screen shot of your computer and email the image to me. The “visitors” are counted as “Cheeseburgers” under the “Bootleggers” title in the side bar. If using a mac taking a screen shot is easy, simply hold COMMAND + SHIFT + 4. After that your cursor will turn into a large (+) just click and drag where you want to take a picture of. If using a PC you’re on your own because I don’t know anything about PC’s.

So, the person to E-mail me with a image of my sidebar reading “43,651 Cheeseburgers” will win:

• 6 Broad Street Bootlegs™ T-Shirts including some “out-of-print” shirts.

• A Sticker package including 15 stickers of 3 different designs.

• A Broad Street Bootlegs™ Logo Tote Bag.

• Broad Street Bootlegs™ Zine Spring 2010 Volume 1 : Holler Back!

• A Broad Street Bootlegs™ Out of Print Limited Edition Bandana.

• 10 BSB™ Drink Coasters.

Good luck and thanks for reading!

King Phil Shirts Going To Print • Available June 2010

So after a little over a hundred people voted on the 6 color schemes. #5 was a blow-out and was definitely getting printed.  #2 was actually the first combo I came up with and liked the most personally so I was going to print that regardless of how it ranked, although it was able to take the bronze which I was pleased about. Keep your eyes peeled for these two shirts coming out the first week of June 2010.
