I just finished this new typeface the other night. I modeled it after an old electric company poster from the 1920′s. This past summer I visited Nashville, TN which is home to one of the oldest and longest operating letterpress print shops in the country, Hatch Show Print. Hatch Show Print opened it’s doors in 1879 and is still up and running today and it’s AWESOME!! I bought their book while I was there and I really liked the type on this one poster, pictured below:
All hand carved woodblock letters and posters were considered disposable back then so beautiful designs like this one was just chopped up after the job was done and turned into smaller designs or shelves.
